Joaquin writes with a belief that original stories can open new emotional doors, inviting readers into worlds that feel both intimate and unexpected.
From childhood, he was drawn less to retellings and more to the spark of something new. Night after night, his father's bedtime storytelling showed him that narrative could be alive—improvised, personal, and full of heart. That early influence shaped Joaquin's commitment to writing stories that are original in voice and intention.
As his craft developed, Joaquin became fascinated by the mystery hidden in ordinary moments—the quiet tension in familiar places, the unanswered question behind a simple encounter. His life experiences continued to deepen that lens, giving his work emotional weight and helping him explore how resilience, fear, and hope coexist in everyday life.
In 2016, he was recognized in the Arizona Authors Association Literary Contest for Remember the Prisoners: He Came to Set the Captives Free, a milestone that affirmed his voice and direction.
